Bahraini authorities accuse the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights of “lying” and had informed the international organizations and the media that we “lie”.

For this we have decided in the BYSHR to send the following evidence (picture):

Picture : Bahrain TV displays images from a hospital , and TV explains that : has no members of the security forces or the army inside hospital, but the picture shows a security man with mask.

Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights just want to clarify to the international public opinion that they do not publish any information before the investigation into the matter.

Based on the ongoing severe human tights violations in Bahrain and the expectation there will be further deterioration and casualties:
BYSHR requests the UN office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights and international human rights organizations to:

1. Issue a strong and clear statement condemning the violations and calling for the halt of severe human rights violations against protesters
2. To send a fact finding mission to observe and document what is going on on the field
3. To ask the different United Nations mechanisms to act according to their specialty in order to put an end to the deteriorating situation and to secure the rights and freedoms of the people in Bahrain
4. To influence the international community, including western governments to take urgent responsibility towards the situation in Bahrain.

URGENT APPEAL: CALL FOR URGENT INTERVENTION TO PREVENT GROSS HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN BAHRAIN

SAUDI AND EMARATI ARMY ENTERS BAHRAIN TO QUELL PEACEFUL PROTESTS

KING ANNOUNCES STATE OF EMERGENCY

ONE DEATH CONFIRMED

Manama: 15 March ,2011

A member of the BYSHR has confirmed the death of Ahmed Farhan- 24 years old- from Sitra Muhazza village after sustaining a shot to the head (type of shot unconfirmed as of yet) following intervention by special security forced in the village. There are reports of many injured and of the prevention of ambulances from reaching the injured. Many villages are under lock down and are being protected by locals after they were attached by armed thugs in the past couple of days. Witnesses have reported that some of the thugs were caught with ID’s stating they work in the Ministry of interior and some were said to be wearing the official riot police dress under their “thub” (Bahraini traditional gown).

In a further disturbing development, Bahraini State television announced yesterday the entry of 1000 Saudi forces into the country to help restore order and the UAE has officially announced that they are sending 500 of their army to assist.

The king announced today a state of national emergency and has referred power to the military in order to “restore order”. This announcement is feared to be a prelude to an intervention similar to that of bloody Thursday, in which excessive force was used to disperse sleeping protesters at the pearl roundabout which resulted in the death of 4 Bahraini citizens.

The BYSHR calls upon the international civil and human rights organizations to urgently intervene in order to prevent further human rights violations in Bahrain and urges them to demand that the Bahraini authorities:

* End the state of emergency announced today and guarantee that all human rights will be respected
* Guarantee that the military will not be used to quell peaceful protests.

* Start an impartial and independent investigation into the deaths that have taken place in the past month as well as the prevention of medical services from reaching injured.

* To offer guarantees that the safety and security of the protesters at the Pearl Roundabout will not be compromised and that actions similar to those that took place on bloody Thursday will not be repeated.

URGENT ACTION: Allegations of Treason against Known Human Rights Activists and Calls for their Killing by “Unknown” Sources
Personal Information & Photos of Activists as Well as their Home Addresses being Circulated
BYSHR Accuses Bahraini Authorities of Being behind Groups

The President of the BYSHR Mr.Mohammed Al-Maskati has received numerous phone-calls since yesterday evening of threats to his life as well as insults after his personal information, personal mobile number, CPR number, photo and home address were being circulated through blackberry messenger, forums, twitter, facebook by unknown sources. Mr. Najji Fateel, a member of the BYSHR board of Directors and a torture victim as well as Mr. Abdulhadi Alkhawaja, previous regional Coordinator at Frontline and previous President of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights also had their personal information distributed in addition to their car numbers.

One of the messages received read: (apx translation from Arabic) “These are the instigators of disorder and who have organized the movements of sabotage and leaders who are insisting on going to the Royal Court on Friday. The Heads of agitation and disorder in our beloved Bahrain need to be killed and liquidated. Following is the information of the traitors:…”

The BYSHR accuses the Bahraini authorities of directly or indirectly, standing behind these group as some of the personal information being distributed is accessible squarely by government institutions and is not in publicly accessed records, in addition, the phone call campaign is being done in an organized manner and through unknown numbers similar to previous campaigns. This would not be the first time a state sponsored defamation campaign has happened or that government related groups have waged a campaign against human rights defenders, (refer to campaigns waged by pro-government newspapers and radio) one may even claim that it has become a systematic practice in the past 7 years.

The BYSHR has been a major source of information to international human rights organizations as well as international journalists since the February 14th protests. Members have acted as guides and translators to these organizations and have been documenting cases of human rights violations as observers. The BYSHR has distributed information and restarted its non-violence campaign since then in order to raise awareness on non-violence strategies.

The BYSHR places full responsibility for any harm to the safety and well being of active human rights defenders on the Bahraini Authorities and warns that these calls for liquidation and killing if left without appropriate reaction will set a dangerous precedence and compromise the work of human right defenders. The BYSHR calls on international human rights organizations to approach the Bahraini authorities in regards to this latest development and require guarantees for the safety and security of human rights defenders.

The BYSHR will continue, regardless of these intimidation campaigns, in its work of documenting human rights violations and providing international human rights organizations and journalists with information regarding the human rights situation in the country.
