On 8 June 2011, The first hearing was held at the National Safety court ( Military court) for Bahrain Teachers Society (BTS).The case has been adjourned till 15 June, 2011.

The defendants were present at the trial :

1- Mr. Mahdi Isa Abu Dheeb – Chairman, Bahrain Teachers Society

2-Ms. Jalila Mohammed Ridha Al Salman – Deputy Chair, Bahrain Teachers Society

Charges:

1-inciting others to commit crimes;
2-calling for the hatred and overthrow of the ruling system;
3-holding pamphlets, disseminating fabricated stories and information;
4-leaving work on purpose and encouraging others to do so;
5-taking part at illegal gatherings.

The Society was founded in 2002, previously called for improvement in teachers working conditions, and contributed to the protests since February 14, 2011.

expresses deep concern at the targeting of institutions of civil society and calls for urgent action to stop the punishment of civil society institutions by the Bahraini authorities.

6-The immediate and urgent release of all prisoners related to the political unrest.
7- Investigation into dismissed employees from their work.
8- Investigation into withdrawal of the scholarships from the students.
9- Investigation into targeting of the civil society and political associations.
10-Investigation into targeting of the sport players, Referees and Clubs.
11-Investigation into targeting of the Journalists, cyber activist, writer, poet and newspaper.
13-Investigation into targeting of the trade unionists.
14-Investigation into allegations of Child Abuse.
15-Investigation into targeting of the Shiite mosques.
16-The elimination of restrictions on freedom of assembly and freedom of opinion and expression.
17-Investigation into targeting of the Medical Staff, Health center and Salmaniya hospital.
18- The elimination of restrictions on the travel of citizens.
19-Investigation into the death of the 26 demonstrators at least since the February 14th unrest.
20-Reveal the whereabouts of the missing.
21-start questioning the security men that are accused of using torture as a means to extract confessions from the detainees and bring them to fair trial.

Trade unionists, Support Democracy and Human Rights

The Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights (BYSHR) has issued a report from Manama today regarding the Trade unionists in Bahrain. The report covers the types of violations.

In a statement Mr. Mohammed Al-Maskati, the President of the BYSHR said: “Trade unionists were in the front line, and sacrificed their status as professional in order to protect democracy and human rights.”
